Just another reason to become a BeautiControl Director

I know I have been sharing alot about Ali Landry lately but she and BeautiControl have been going hand in hand lately. Again, this is a blog post from our product and development specialist, Gary Jones, so the I here is not me. But after reading this it just gives me another reason why I want to be a BeautiControl Director!! Who's ready to join me?!?!

Spa the Stars with Ali Landry - Share the Experience!

Tuesday: We arrived Los Angles to meet our own BeautiControl stars, Michelle Jones, Stacy Atnip, Carissa Evans, Kathy Bellinger, Norma Hagglund and Christine Engelbrecht at the fabulous Beverly Hilton. I have been in a lot of wonderful hotels, but this one has to be one of the most glamorous and exciting hotels in the world. This hotel has a long history in Hollywood and a regular brunch spot for the stars as well as the long time host of the Golden Globe Awards, Latin Music Awards (which were going on while we were there) and a multitude of other celebrity functions. After an afternoon of shopping, we were whisked away for an exclusive dinner at Wolfgang Puck’s world renowned restaurant, Spago, where we were treated to a luxurious pre-set sampling menu of some of their more popular items on the menu. WOW! If you ever get to Beverly Hills…make this an item on your agenda.
After an incredible dinner, our ladies demonstrated that they were there to have a good time by making reservations at the Laugh Factory, on one of Hollywood’s most famous comedy clubs. I, on the other hand, had a very early meeting with our PR group, so unfortunately, I was a dud. Luckily, RVP Chris Stutchlak was there to entertain our celebs Hollywood style!

When our achievers returned to their room, they were greeted with an incredible silk cheetah print robe as well as a blingy Spa Apron and BC Spa logo shirt to wear at the Spa.
Wednesday: Our super-stars were treated to their own pampering Spa experience at a Beverly Hills Spa so they could be pampered themselves before an exhausting evening of Spa-ing the Stars. Once again, Chris Stutchlak took them on an adventurous lunch following their Spa treatment…I, on the other hand, headed out to begin our set-up for the evening’s festivities.
As we started up the winding drive through the Hollywood Hills, it became clear that this was going to be a night to remember. Ali’s house sits at the top of the street with a magnificent view of the city. Her home is outrageously incredible!!! Despite it’s expansive size, it was an incredibly warm, inviting and hypnotically decorated experience from room to room. The Spanish influence of the architecture was reflected in the intricately placed accessories, incredible tile frescos and the vibrantly dramatic Spanish tiles. The layout of the house was in somewhat of a hacienda format which opened out onto the courtyard and balconies…blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor. We could not have hand-picked a more relaxing and inviting environment for a Spa.
Because of the size of the guest list, we decided it would be most effective to have a “station” Spa so everyone could experience the products in smaller groups and have a more personal pampering experience. All-in-all, we have 5 stations in total:
· Relaxation Station – complete with Cheetah Neckwraps, Clarity neck patches, TFF Eye Serum, Platinum Eye Patches and Lip Apeel.
· Manicure Station – complete with each one of the BC Spa Manicure products
· Instant Facelift/Anti-aging Station – complete with each of the IFL products as well as all of our Skinlogics products.
· Makeover Station – featuring all of our fabulous BC Color products, Wet Dry’s and Primers
· Margarita Station – Featuring our margarita product line. This was a special request from Ali since the theme of her Spa was a Margarita Party.
The house was buzzing with a flurry of excitement as we began to set up our stations. Not only were we running around like crazies trying to get everything put together, but celebrity chef, Lulu Powers was in the kitchen preparing the hors d'eouvres for the event. In case you don’t know who Lulu Powers is, she has been a private chef to many of Hollywood's A List Celebs, including Tom Cruise, Madonna and Will & Jada Pinkett Smith! She is the go-to person for big lavish Hollywood/LA parties and events. Lulu will be embarking on a coast-to-coast book launch next month with her fabulous book, “Lulu Powers: Food to Flowers”, which contains her sought-after recipes and entertaining tips!! click here to visit LuLu Powers . So, between the decorators, the waiters, the food preparation and us, it was a mad house!
Ahh….but then our BC Stars arrived in their limo with yet another surprise that we had planned for them. When they came down to the lobby to depart for Ali’s home, who was there to greet them but our very own President, Albert Bosch. Albert joined them for the ride to Ali’s and congratulated their success with a champagne toast to commemorate their success. Upon their arrival, they were greeted in the courtyard by a STUNNINGLY beautiful Ali Landry and shared some intimate time visiting and taking pictures before the guests arrived. Camera crews and photographers snapped shots and footage of our stars with Ali…so be sure to be on the lookout for some media mentions of the event.
Slowly, in typical L.A. fashion, the guest began to arrive. What an incredible group of friends Ali has! It was so wonderful to stand back and watch as our BC Directors had the opportunity to visit with the guests. Some of the guests included the beautiful Paige Hemmis from Extreme Home Makeover; Alison Sweeney from Days of our Lives and host of The Biggest Loser; Golden Brooks, movie and television star; and a variety of other celebrities and close friends of Ali.
When it was clear that the guests had all arrived, a mariachi band entered and serenaded the group and truly added the final touch on Ali’s already elaborate Margarita Party theme. After a few songs, Ali addressed the group and shared with them her heart-felt sentiments about her long-time relationship with BeautiControl and her contagious passion for the company, the products and the women. She made all of our Directors feel so welcome and told all of her friends that by the time the night was over, they were going to fall in love with BeautiControl the same way she had…and they did.
Each guest began their Spa experience by taking a Cheetah Caddy, complete with a Cheetah headband and visiting each station. Downstairs by the fountain, Kathy hosted the Margarita Station…and let me tell you…she was incredible. She added that fun party spirit to the products and made sure that every one who came by left with a Margarita Body Cream and Tangy Lip Balm.
Norma was our Manicure Station queen. She was busy non-stop demonstrating the products, pampering the guests and up-selling the entire line. Norma really had it going on…I think Norma’s station was one that was crowded most of the evening. Everyone who came by was given our incredible Instant Manicure and Cheetah manicure gloves to add to their caddy. I’m not sure what they loved more, the products, or Norma!
Upstairs on the balcony overlooking the courtyard, we had both our BC Color Station and our Relaxation Station. Stacy and Michelle teamed up to tackle the Relaxation station since it was one of the more intensive stations of the evening. They could not have choreographed their performance more perfectly. They were such an incredible team and added not only that touch of relaxation, but their enthusiasm for the business. Each of the guests received a heated Cheetah Neckwrap with the Clarity neck patches which they wore while they were pampered with a Lip Apeel treatment (one of Allison Sweeny’s favorite products of the night) as well as the TFF eye serum and Regeneration Eye Patch treatment. They were given each of these items to put in their bag as a gift. By this time, they all had on their manicure gloves, their neckwraps, their caddy’s on their arms filled to the rim with products as well as their margaritas…giggling and moving from station to station.
Right inside the double doors entering the house from the balcony was Christine who had the awesome responsibility of demonstrating not only the Instant Facelift, but also explaining the incredible benefits of our skin care products. Christine is a master in this area and did an unbelievable job of sharing her product knowledge and convincing each person who visited her that we had the solution to ANY aging problem. Each guest was thrilled as they left with their very own starter set of their very own skin care products.
Carissa took the BC Color Station…and I think she was a little surprised at the results. Not only did these incredibly beautiful women want to play in the makeup…they wanted Carissa to do makeovers and teach them how to put on their makeup. Think about it…many of these women have someone who puts makeup on them every day for a living…and Carissa was a pro! She was busy from the beginning of the spa up until the end…which, by the way, was more than 2 hours LATER than the invitation had indicated. What can I say…when you get a group of women and BeautiControl products together, the results can be less than predictable.
By the end of the evening Paige Hemmis was scheduling an appointment to pick up some products before she left for a trip, Alison Sweeney was on Twitter sharing how much fun she was having with BeautiControl and everyone was still reeling from the excitement of the night.
One of the highlights of my night, besides being able to spend an incredible evening with our Directors of course, was having the opportunity to spend some quality time with Ali and her business partners. Ali’s has come a LONG way from her hometown of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, being Miss USA, a BeautiControl Consultant and being one of the most celebrated beauties of our generation. As if all of that wasn’t enough, Ali is one of the most genuine, caring and passionate people that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Her passion for her family and her passion for women is incredible! It was clear that Ali and her friends are more than just acquaintances…these were solid women of substance, character and values that have been lost or at least forgotten in recent years. Ali and her friends are women who care about each other and other women…which makes her the PERFECT addition to our BeautiControl family. Ali and her friends have embarked on an incredibly ambitious and very successful venture and have created an incredible new lifestyle brand called Belle Parish click here to experience the world of Belle Parish . Belle Parish is a line of children’s clothing and is receiving incredible reviews. You will hear a lot more about this in the future, but if you are on Facebook, add Belle Parish as a “friend” so you can stay in the know on what Ali is up to and share in the success of her amazing new company. Be sure to send a friend request to anyone in your address book that has children…they will fall in love with the adorable fashions available!
So, to top off the evening, we took our Celebrities to an incredible dinner finale. While we were all so tired we could fall over, we were so happy to have yet another night to bond and reflect on the success of the day.

Please sign..this is unreal

You know I rarely forward things like this! For one reason, many things circulating on the internet aren’t true. This unfortunately is true! I received this from my mom who received it from a friend of hers who is married to a surgeon. Lifetime has a link at the bottom where we can “electronically” sign their petition. This will get all of the signatures in one location…this type of petition will work! My mom did not have breast cancer but she did have cancer and had a drainage tube. I cannot imagine her going home dragging that nasty bottle behind her. Please read this and consider signing. I mean if the government will pay for Viagra for those on welfare and if insurance companies will pay for Viagra for men…the insurance companies can certainly give us 2 days in the hospital to recover from breast cancer surgery! Crazy…I’ve never heard of the inability to have sex as a cause of death but I have heard of many instances of surgery complications causing death.

Proposed Mastectomy Law Change
(written by a surgeon);

I'll never forget the look in my patients eyes when I had to tell them they had to go home with the drains, new exercises and no breast. I remember begging the doctors to keep these women in the hospital longer, only to hear that they would, but their hands were tied by the insurance companies.

So there I sat with my patient giving them the instructions they needed to take care of themselves, knowing full well they didn't grasp half of what I was saying, because the glazed, hopeless, frightened look spoke louder than the quiet 'Thank you' they muttered.

A mastectomy is when a woman's breast is removed in order to remove cancerous breast cells/tissue. If you know anyone who has had a mastectomy, you may know that there is a lot of discomfort and pain afterwards. Insurance companies are trying to make mastectomies an outpatient procedure. Let's give women the chance to recover properly in the hospital for 2 days after surgery.

This Mastectomy Bill is in Congress now. It takes 2 seconds to do this and is very important. Please take the time and do it really quick! The Breast Cancer Hospitalization Bill is important legislation for all women.

Please send this to everyone in your address book. If there was ever a time when our voices and choices should be heard, this is one of those times. If you're receiving this, it's because I think you will take the 30 seconds to go to vote on this issue and send it on to others you know who will do the same.

There's a bill called the Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act which will require insurance companies to cover a minimum 48-hour hospital stay for patients undergoing a mastectomy. It's about eliminating the 'drive-through mastectomy' where women are forced to go home just a few hours after surgery, against the wishes of their doctor, still groggy from anesthesia and sometimes with drainage tubes still attached.

Lifetime Television has put this bill on their web page with a petition drive to show your support.. Last year over half the House signed on. PLEASE! Sign the petition by clicking on the web site below.

Snow in February

We had so much fun in the snow!! What a great present to have snow the day for our little man's birthday!! He was so excited because he asked us if it was going to snow for Christmas and I think he was a little disappointed when it didn't. We tried to tell him that it didn't snow much in the south. So needless to say, he was so so excited when it snowed for his birthday!!
Driving his car in the first signs of snow...

Even a Deere can run in snow...

I thought the trees were so pretty...

BeautiControl and Tupperware Take Fashion Week By Storm!

BeautiControl hit the runway for fashion week!!! I couldn't be more excited to be part of such a wonderful company!!

Again, I took this straight from the blog of Gary Jones, BeautiControl's Product and Development, so the I here is Gary not me.

Preview of Irina Shabayeva’s Fall 2010 Designer Collection.

Oddly enough, the first story I see on the news is footage from last night’s fashion show. I could not have been more proud to hear that Tupperware and BeautiControl, together, had made national headlines. If there were any skeptics in the industry before last night that questioned, “what does Tupperware know about beauty?”, they got their answer last night.

Let me backtrack a little…

20 days ago, the public relations hounds at Tupperware became aware of a new designer, Irina Shabayeva, that was previewing her Fall 2010 Collection in NYC and needed a sponsor in order for her to be able to secure a show in Fashion Week in NYC. Fashion Week in NYC is like Mardi Gras in New Orleans. It is a week, every year, where every key designer previews their Fall Collections for the following year. In order to secure a show during this coveted time period means that you are one of the “who’s who” in the fashion industry. To secure a show on a Saturday night means that you either have an incredible sponsor, or that you are one of the premier designers in the industry…in this case, I think it is a combination of both.

For those who might not be aware of who Irina Shabayeva is, she was the winner of last season’s Project Runway…a television show featuring young designers competing for a design contract. Irina won due to her unique ability to combine the expected with the unexpected to create designs that were more than fashion…rather pieces of art and architecture. When she themed her collection for Fall 2010, her inspiration was the concept of “flight” and “freedom”. In fact, Freedom and the un-tethered journey of flight set Irina on a course to create a fantasy of construction, intricate beading, and exotic materials…including materials designed exclusively for the show by Tupperware. This unusual partnership with an alternative view to fashion and construction allow Irina to join Tupperware’s effort of inspiring women around the world through confidence and empowerment.

It was, in fact, this unusual pairing between Tupperware, BeautiControl and Irina herself that brought the media out in droves to capture this moment. In fact, there were over 750 people in attendance at what proved to be a standing room only event. The media that was there included:
The Associated Press, Conde Nast, MORE Magazine, Oprah Magazine, Reuters, Redbook, Vanity Fair Italia, NBC Universal, MTV Networks, Bloomberg, FOX Business Network, CBS Radio, Shant Petrossian (Senior Producer of the Rachael Ray Show), Self Magazine and Niche Media Holdings (the producer of luxury magazines including Art Basel, Aspen Peak, Boston Common, Capitol File, Gotham, Hamptons, Los Angeles Confidential, Michigan Avenue, Philadelphia Style, Ocean Drive, Vegas, Wynn Las Vegas, and Wynn Macau), Macy’s, Marc Jacobs International, Bride Magazine, Fox Business Network, Glamour, LA Magazine, Shape, AM New York, Boston Herald, CBS New York, CBS Radio, CosmoGirl.com, E! Online, ELLE, ELLE Europe, Essence.com, Examiner.com, Fox New York, Good Housekeeping, LA Times, Modern Luxury, NBC, Newsday, OK! Magazine, Reuters, Seventeen Magazine, SOMA Magazine, The EXAMINER, The Huffington Post, Time Out New York, VH1 Wardrobe, Vogue Brazil, Vogue Spain, Wall Street Journal, WWD and a host of beauty editors from various fashion publications.

Needless to say, this even will cause people to see Tupperware brands in a different light. As a result, BeautiControl will receive incredible media recognition in the process.

Ok, so back to last night. So I get there around 4pm for the show to meet with the design team, which included several celebrity makeup artists as well as notorious hair designer, Rodney Cutler, owner and founder of Cutler Salons. It was such an awesome experience to see this massive team of makeup artists using ONLY BeautiControl products to transform the models into these dramatic and ethereal creatures. Each of the makeup artists RAVED about the products and commented on the quality of the formulations, the depth of the product and the versatility of the color palettes. In fact, when they looked at the Product Guide at the conclusion of the show to place orders for products, they were SHOCKED at the low prices. I can guarantee we have some new BC fans after last night’s event.

After we got the design team set up and working to create their magic, I headed over to help put together goodie bags for each of the attendees. Along with a selection of Tupperware items, we also added, Tight Firm and Fill Eye Firming Serum, Tight Firm and Fill Face Cream, BC Spa Under-eye Solutions, Mineral Lip Color, Mineral Eye Shadow Trio and a Lip Gloss, as well as a Product Guide. 750 of New York’s elite media left with a selection of BeautiControl’s best and most effective products. It doesn’t get any better than that. Rarely does a company have the opportunity to get in front of that much media at one event. Even more rarely do you have the opportunity to send each of them home with such a wide selection of products. I don’t think we have heard the last of this event. This is the type of thing that will continue to help us gain momentum as we make it a mission to get BeautiControl on the lips of every woman in 2010…both literally and figuratively.

After assembling goodie bags and watching the production team transform the empty warehouse, it was time for the press and guests to arrive. Rick Goings, CEO of Tupperware, joined us on the red carpet and conducted multiple interviews with the media talking about the unexpected presence of Tupperware at Fashion Week. Rick, as always, took every opportunity to talk about the co-branding with BeautiControl and how our mission of creating Freedom for women across the globe was the perfect fit for this show.

The show, itself, was unbelievable! The makeup was the result of BeautiControl while many of the accessories, jewelry and embellishments were compliments of Tupperware. Tupperware designed enormous wings that both hung from the ceiling and were used to create the skirts for a few of Irina’s designs. The dress that created the most “buzz” in the collection was one that used a Tupperware designed and manufactured wing, trimmed in ostrich feathers. UNBELIEVABLE!! In addition, Tupperware designed multiple sized feathers out of plastic and acrylic that were used to sew on a number of the pieces as well as used exclusively for every piece of jewelry that was used in the show. It goes without saying that every journalist in that room was blown away. I heard from so many of them who said it has been years since anyone has made this type of impact on the fashion industry during Fashion Week.

So…needless to say, it was an incredible weekend! I have never been more proud to be part of this amazing company. We are in the right place at just the right time! With the publicity surrounding this event and the soon to follow Spa with Ali Landry, we are on a fast track for huge media recognition. This is the type of excitement that helps not only drive sales, but solidify us as a force to be reckoned with in the beauty and fashion industry. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of such a trend forward company?

I LOVE BC!!!

Fashion Week

I'm going to try (key word try) to catch-up on my blogging this week.

I took this straight from the blog of BeautiControl's Product and Development Gary Jones. So the I here is Gary not me.

Big News! BeautiControl In the Spotlight at Fashion Week in NYC

Ok…so I have some REALLY exciting news to share with everyone. I got a call last week from the VP of public relations at Tupperware about an amazing opportunity for BeautiControl to participate in Fashion Week in NYC this coming weekend. Not only will I be attending an exclusive fashion show by Irina Shabayeva, winner of season six of Project Runway, but BeautiControl will be providing ALL of the makeup for the show.

There is a huge list of celebrities that will be attending the show, although I can’t tell you who just yet. We even created some extra-special goody bags for some of the more notorious celebrities who will join me backstage. I put together a really cool gift in the event that I run into Sarah Jessica Parker…one of my all-time favorite celebrities (besides, of course Ali Landry).

There is a celebrity make-up artist and hair stylist that will be conducting interviews with the press and will feature BeautiControl as their “makeup of choice”. I will be backstage with a film crew to capture the excitement and will be sure to share with everyone through my blog and Facebook page when I get back next week.

Below you will find the official press release about the event:

Irina Shabayeva Previous Project Runway Winner Debuts Fall 2010

Irina Shabayeva Previous Project Runway Winner Debuts Fall 2010 Collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City

Shabayeva Uses Tupperware(R) Materials in Flight-Inspired Collection

Irina Shabayeva, the season six winner of Project Runway, will debut her Fall 2010 collection on Saturday,
February 13th during New York's world-renowned Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. The show will take place at SIR Stage 37 (508 West 37th Street) from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a runway presentation starting promptly at 7:30 p.m. (informal modeling will follow from 8:00-9:00p.m.). Inspired by the evolution of flight, the Fall collection will pay homage to The Da Vinci Glider, Amelia Earhart, and wings from our most natural fliers - exotic birds from around the world.

Shabayeva's Fall collection is a delicate balance between the ethereal and the industrial while incorporating materials from Tupperware® - one of America's most beloved brands and the winner of numerous design awards, including several prestigious Red Dot Awards. This unusual collaboration inspired Shabayeva to create looks that manipulate plastic into modern day ready to wear. She will debut five pieces using Tupperware® materials, in addition to many accessories on the runway.

Shabayeva isn't new to experimenting with alternative materials. In Challenge #5 of Project Runway, Shabayeva created a couture dress out of newspaper. In earlier collections she designed a wire corset and a series of plexiglass hats.

"This collection is about the fantasy of flight and liberation," said Shabayeva. "It's about finding what liberates you."

"When we saw Irina on Project Runway, we were simply in awe of her of talent and vision," said Tupperware Brands' Chairman and CEO Rick Goings. "As a company that has long been focused on innovative design, we're thrilled to work with someone who is so forward-thinking and whose work is inspiring and empowering."

Highlights from the Fall collection include intricate hand-painted prints, feather dresses and custom made hats. One of Shabayeva's signatures is mixing exotics with clean silhouettes, so look for luxurious fabrications with flawless tailoring. Hand-knit sweater coats will be paired with cut-out leathers, wool and elegant fur trims. The finale will be a flutter of feathers, hand-beaded embellishments and embroidery.

BC Colors of Spring

March is all about color…but taking on a different mood than in years before. Typically, the trend for spring color surrounds either bright splashes of color or soft pastels. This year, makeup fashion trends borrow its influence from the environment with special attention to luxe textures and tones. While the shades are reminiscent of earth, air and water influences, the textures are borrowed from exotic textiles such as silk and organza.

In both fashion and makeup, there is a strong connection with the environment. This trend will remain strong through the Spring fashion season and begin to shift toward more dramatic, uber-glamorous shades for the Fall and Holiday seasons.

When it came time to name this collection, it was a marriage of natural shades and glamorous, high fashion couture. The name selection needed to be representative of the elements of nature, yet scream RUNWAY HIGH FASHION. So, we are proud to introduce our new BC Color, Eco Couture, Spring Trend Collection 2010! Natural just got glamorous.

At the core of this collection is the BC Color EcoCouture Mineral Eye Shadow Trio. This is the same fabulous mineral eye color formula that BeautiControl Consultants and BeautiControl Clients know and love, featuring three complimentary colors that reflect the best of the Spring 2010 trend.

The natural linen shade can be used as a highlighter and base. Use the delicately pearlized cocoa shade for contour and add the shimmering golden blue shade for a kiss of color that looks stunning on ALL skin tones. You can even glam it up a notch by layering on a little more of each shade and really show off your Eco Couture.

Our BC Color Mineral Blush features two harmonious shades pressed into one compact— a gorgeous glistening ginger and naturally bronzed rose. Blend these shades to create your own personalized look or use them separately to highlight and contour

Exciting news! A favorite formula of yours has been given a twist for Spring. The BC Color Mineral Lip Color Eco Couture shades are lightly flavored and infused with even more moisturizing agents to drench your lips in lush, rich color and help your lips stay perfectly hydrated and soft.

·Pink Sands is a creamy, plummy pink with a touch of shimmer and Copper Earth is a sun-kissed copper.

Try both for a strikingly simple, strikingly glamorous look

There are two new shades of Lip Gloss to complement the new Mineral Lip Color shades while adding shine and dimension to your pout. Pink Slate is an ultra-soft pink with gold flecks and Spiced Amber is a brilliantly sugared sienna. Both are sure to please!

The final product in the Eco Couture Collection is one that I know you will be excited about – it’s our limited edition BC Color Nail Lacquer. Nail color is making a comeback after a few years of a nude, manicured look. While the trend is still not favoring bright nail colors, the use of subtle, shimmering shades are used on nails to help complement the skin’s natural tone and add a touch of sophisticated glamour.

This revolutionary formula features state of the art ingredients for long-wearing, ultra-fast drying and extraordinary shine. There are two lustrous shades for you to choose from - Sunset Glow, a pearlized, honeyed peach and Desert Sun—a sandy and muted auburn. These colors are the perfect finish to any look.
