What does your fragrance say about you?!?!

Thank you to Gary Jones (BeautiControl's product and development guru) for posting this helpful fragrance info on his blog.

Every fragrance has its own personality, just as we do, and choosing the right fragrance can be tricky with so many to offer. It’s important to make sure you choose the right fragrance to suit your personality …after all, our perfume tells others a lot about who we are.

Fragrances are classified into categories based on their ingredients:

Floral
Floral fragrances are the most popular and widely used fragrances in the world, and are generally suited for all age types. As the name suggests, floral fragrances have strong flowery overtones, making them ideal for those looking for a feminine or romantic fragrance. These fragrances can include rose, jasmine, violet and lavender scents.

Fruity
Fruity fragrances use fruit scents as part of the formula to create a spicy, fresh, and youthful scent that is versatile and may be worn in all seasons. These fragrances provide a classic scent with an added twist, and are ideal for outdoor wear, particularly during milder weather.

Woody
Woody perfumes (sometimes called "chypre") are unique in that they feature hints of earthy tones such as tree bark or moss that are associated with forest scents. Woody scents are generally suited for the mature woman, since they have a very sophisticated quality. These scents - which can include sandalwood, patchouli, bergamot and cedar - are particularly suited for cooler evenings, and add a rich, natural and fresh air.

Green
Green fragrances provide a lighter scent that is reminiscent of freshly cut grass or spring growth. The predominant notes of these fragrances are derived from green plants such as pine, juniper, grass, leaves, and herbs. Generally speaking, green fragrances feature more neutral tones, making them ideal for all occasions – particularly for younger or sportier women.

Oriental
Oriental perfumes are strong and full-bodied, creating a sensual, exotic, and warm impression. Oriental fragrances include ingredients such as spices, musk, balsams, resins, sweet vanilla, and sumptuous flowers. Fragrance tones in this category cross over from spicy fruit scents to warm and woody ones. Oriental perfumes are ideal for corporate environments and special events.

Tips for Making Your Decision

Consider which parts of your personality you want to bring out with your new scent and think of the types of non-cosmetic fragrances you are naturally attracted to. For instance, if you love the smell of baking, you may want to choose a perfume containing vanilla, but if you love the smell of gardens, a floral perfume may be right for you. On the other hand, if you love the smell of beaches, an oceanic fragrance may be the best choice.

Remember, different perfumes may be better suited to different times of the day, different seasons, or different age groups. For instance, sensual oriental fragrances containing amber and musk are better suited for the winter season, while a green perfume may be better suited for younger women and for daytime wear.

Lastly, remember that perfumes and fragrances create complex tones that change on the surface of your skin as you wear them. This means that the initial scent you may have experienced when applying a new fragrance will evolve into different stages as it blends with the oils of your skin. Make note of the different tones specifically designed for your perfume in order to get a truer sense of the type of fragrances that you may be interested in.

What is Your Fragrance Personality?
Vibrant Vixen

If you are someone who is always buzzing about and organizing people, you need a fragrance with lots of energy. Juicy, fruity notes and sparkling citrus accords will really complement your zest for life.

Delicate Elegance

If life is all about friendship and harmony, then you need a fragrance to represent your softer side. Powdery musk and white floral notes are warm and inviting and will complement your positive energy.

Drama Queen

If you are the life and soul of the party then you have to have a fragrance that makes a statement, too! A perfect partner for your party wardrobe will be crammed with sexy floral and woody notes. Your fragrance has to last well into the night so you need something with impact and style

The Grand Adventurer

If you have a sense of adventure and enjoy things a little out of the ordinary, then an exciting and unpredictable fragrance is what you need. Unusual fruity notes like pomegranate and mango will surprise and delight, while rich and exotic floral notes provide mystery.

My "baby" boy is 4

On Valentine's Day my "baby" boy turned 4.

I can't believe it. Time is flying by. I would love to be perserved as a super mom who does it all but I would be kidding myself if I tried to get you to believe that. The Lord has really been working on my pride about being a super mom. I love to think I have it all together but the Lord reminds me that doesn't matter if it isn't for His glory and I am trying to be supermom to boost my ego/sinful flesh. With that being said, I could not have pulled of Tuck's two birthday parties (yes, 2 one for friends and one for family but thankfully they both had the same theme... Handy Manny) had it not been for God's strength He have me. My Mom and Dad cam early and helped out alot and my sweet husband helped in numerous ways. Thank you to all of them for making the parties be great!!

Tuck and I enjoyed using his broken crayons to make these. We used these to color our Handy Manny tool sheets.

Friend birthday at Chick-fil-a. Just FYI, Chick-fil-a is a wonderful place to have a children's birthday party. They are so nice and helpful!! I'll be glad to share my wonderful experiences with you!!

Enjoying a Chick-fil-a breakfast

Put the screwdrivers in Handy Manny's hand (aka pin the tail on the donkey Handy Manny style).

The boys loved playing with the PVC pipe while the girls played on the Chick-fil-a playground. Tuck liked the Handy Manny gloves but Ian didn't want any part of the gloves. LOL.

Fun gifts...

As you can tell this is a homemade cake and thankfully it was a Handy Manny party and I could pretend the sinkage in the middle was Handy Manny coming out of his gravel pit.

T with friends

Handy Tucker!!

Too much birthday LOL

Family Party
I didn't make this cake...thanks for bringing the cake Dad and Mom!!

All of these products are free of parabins, glutten, artificial dyes and fragrance.

Let me know if you want to be sensored!!!!

Check out this awesome 90 second video here.

I love this from Southern Living's August 2010 publication...

"How can I streamline my nighttime skin care routine?"

"It's tempting to crawl into bed without taking off your makeup or washing your face, but don't do it," says Jule Hafer. The owner of Beauty Ethics spa and salon in Raleigh, North Carolina, says skipping proper skin care at night can result in dull skin and breakouts.
"Take a few minutes to care for your face each night will help you achieve a healthier, more youthful glow," she says. "Taking care of your skin doens't have to be expensive or time-consuming-you just need to chose the right products," she says.

Try Julie's simple routine (note from Blakely, it is just like BeautiControl!!). It takes less than 5 minutes, and your skin will thank you for it in the morning.

Cleanse: Hot water may fell southing, but it dries your skin. Instead use lukewarm water and a washcloth. (Julie and I recommend using a clean washcloth each day to prevent the spread of bacteria.) Be sure to remove all traces of makeup, which can clog pores and irritate eyes. (Blakely recommeds BeautiControl's new PURIFYING cleansing gel or lotion. Check them out here.)

Exfoliate: Everyone should use an exfoliaton on their face 2-3 times a week at night. Exfoliants polish the skin and remove flaky, dead skin, making your skin look brighter and lines less obvious. Skip grainy scrubs (they irritae skin) and look for alapha hydroxy acid if you have normal or dry skin and betay hydroxy acid if your skin is oily. (Blakely- I love BeautiControl's EXFOLIATING polish!! It has natural jojoba beads; Vitamin C, E and B5; provides antioxidant benefits and much more... check it out here.)

Moisturize: Protect and soften skin by using a moisturizer. "Use the lightest one possible for your skin type to add just enough moisture without weighing skin down," Julie says. (Blakely- I love that BeautiControl's new skin sensors personalize your skin care regimen to know just what your skin needs!! Check out BeautiControl's DEFEND and RESTORE Moisture Creme or Lotion with SPF 20 and DEFEND and RESTORE Night Creme here.)

The Southern Living article didn't mention anything about a tonic but I feel it is very vital in our skin's well being as it closes your pores which have opened from the warm water. I love that BeautiControl's new REGENERATING tonics have AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids) or PHAs (poly hydroxy acids) (depending on what your skin needs)!! Check them out here.

Microcrystallines are found in the new RESTRUCTURING eye creme and DEFEND and RESTORE night creme. What does that mean? It means the skin recognizes the microcrystallines as it's own so it is absorbed faster and you'll be looking younger sooner!!

Fuller Lips

Do you have a lipstick or lipgloss that you don't use anymore and is collecting dust in your drawer? Are you ready to brighten up for the coming spring?!?
Buy 1 Lip Perfecting Pencil, get a Mineral Lip Color ($14 value) or new BC Gloss ($14value) for only $5 (when you trade in a Lip Color -other than a BC Lip Color). Or trade 1/get 1 FREE w/ a $75 purchase!!
I have been given a challenge to collect 30 colors (that aren't BC) by the end of February!! Will you help me do it?!
Check out the NEW BC liners here and the fabulous new BC glosses here.

I found this in the November 2010 issue of Health and wanted to share.

Many of us crave plumper lips, but who wants a pout that looks surgically enhanced? For natural-looking fullness, skip the surgery.

Kern suggests a trick professional photo retouchers use: lighten the color of the skin just above your lips to create a highlight that makes the top lip look fuller. Using a champagne-colored highlihghting pencil, trace a thin line along the center third of your top lip, and bled with your fingertips.
Next, sketch just beneath the center third of your bottom lip with a nude lip pencil, such as Bare pencil by BeautiControl here, and blend it in slightly. The lipstick shade you use is up to you but finish by highlighing the center of your bottom lip with a shimmery gloss for a lush look, such as Bubble Bath by BeautiControl here.

Thank you to our Military

I love this new Joe Nichols video. It makes me even more appreciative of our military. I can't say thank you enough to the men and women who keep America safe each and everyday.
Check out Joe Nichols new video here. WARNING this is not a Christian song, it is a Country song and he does say that he lost a hell of a woman, just FYI.
This video makes me realize even my most terrible day isn't that bad. Just because I didn't get everything marked off of the to-do list that day, laundry is piled a mile high and I burned dinner... I'm doing all right.

Our church is collecting coupons (they can be expired because military families can use expired coupons at places )that military can use. If your church doesn't do this I'll be glad to get them from you and turn them in at our collection spot.

Please post below other ways to help our military. I would love your ideas or organizations that help our brave men and women and their families.

A little help from Martha

My friend Addie and I wanted a wreath for our doors that could be used in the fall and even a little after Christmas. Martha Stewart to the rescue!!

I found this in Martha Stewart Living and we got together to do this fun wreath. It was so much fun to talk while we were doing it and T and L had fun playing!!

Tools and Materials
Hot-glue gun (with lots of glue sticks)
2 bags (one pound each) walnuts in the shell
24-inch flat wooden wreath form
1 bag (1 pound) each almonds, hazelnuts, and pecans in the shell
Wide ribbon

The How-To
Hot glue walnuts to a 5-inch-long segment of 1 side of wreath form, varying direction of nuts.

Fill spaces between walnuts with the other nuts, hot-gluing them to the form and the walnuts as you work.

Repeat, working in sections, to cover the wreath form completlely. Be sure to adhere nuts to inner and outer edges of wreath form to conceal it entirely.

Tie ribbon around wreath.

One thing I would add (thanks to the nice, helpful lady at Hobby Lobby) would be to spray the wreath with matte acrylic spray when you are finished so animals will not be interested in it!!

My finished product

We could only find the nuts in a mixed bag of walnuts, almonds, and hazelnuts it was a large bag though and did both of our wreaths. The bag was $10.
I had lots of pecans in the shell we picked up last year and never used so we mainly used pecans on our wreaths since they were free!!!
We found the wreath forms and Michael's and had 40% off coupons for them. (don't remember price)
We did have to buy more glue sticks and matte acrylic spray used 40% off coupons for both at Hobby Lobby. (don't remember price)
We used ribbon we already hade.

My estimate is that we each had about $10 in this project!! I thought that was good for a wreath to hang on the front door!!

Auburn Celebration

I was reading in Southern Living (October 2010, yes a little behind) and was happy to see Auburn's Pre- and Post-game rituals in it!!

Here is was Southern Living had to say about Auburn University...
Before the coin toss, fans at Jordan-Hare Stadium are whipped into a frenzy by the "flight of the eagle." As the roar "W-a-a-a-r," a trained raptor pounces on a leather falcontry lure at midfield as the crowd booms in unison: "EAGLE!" If Auburn wins, look out for the "rolling" of Toomer's Corner: Fans wielding rolls of Charmin and Scott cover the ancient oaks lording over the intersection with miles of bath tissue, transforming downtown into a mystical, two-ply microclimate.

How fun to see the Loveliest Village on the Plains in Southern Living!!

We were so excited to go to the Auburn Celebration on Saturday, January 22.

Rescue Winter Skin with CHOCOLATE!!

I was reading my January/February issue of Health and ran across this article about chocolate.
Go loco for Cocoa!! Chocolate can hydrate parched skin and boasts some amzing beauty benefirts.

BeautiControl to the rescue with a Spiced Chocolate Fragrance Mist, White Chocolate Peppermint Instant Manicure, Milk Chocolate Caramel Body Souffle and Dark Chocolate Espresso Exfoliating Body Wash

Cocoa is an anti-ager
Enjoying hot chocolate or -anything rich in cocoa powder- may help your skin stay gorgeous. "Cocoa is rich in flavanol antiozidants that defend skin against free radicals," says Yvonne Nienstadt, the nutrition director at Mexico's Rancho La Puerta Fitness Resort and Spa. And, she adds, "the aroma can trigger the release of serotonin, the brain's natural antidepressant."
