Summerizing Your Skin

BeautiControl's Research and Development guru Gary Jones has outdone himself again with these helpful summer skin tips.....

In case you haven’t noticed…Summer is here. With Summer here we need to start Summerizing our skin as a result. Here are a few things to keep in mind, as well as a list of some of my favorite summer BeautiControl products to help you enjoy every second of the season, while keeping your skin in perfect condition:

Scrub-a-dub-dub
It's so very important to exfoliate your skin. Your body sheds skin cells at an amazing rate every minute of every day. If you don't get rid of them, they'll just sitting on your skin making you look dull and dry. No matter how much lotion you use, you're skin cannot absorb the moisture and nutrition from your body moisturizers if you don’t effectively and frequently exfoliate. Grab a body scrub and hit the shower. Gently rub your exfoliator in circular movements on your entire body from the shoulders down (you'll want a facial exfoliator for your face and neck) and rinse clean. Continue to do this 2-3 times a week for year-round beautiful skin.

For the body:
Click each name to be take to my webpage with more info on this product
Luxuries of the Sea salt Glow – This product contains both salt and nourishing oils to not only exfoliate, but help keep the skin moist and hydrated throughout the day.
Spa Sugar Scrub – Sugar not only exfoliates, but it helps condition the skin…not to mention leaving a beautiful scent on your body.

For the face:

Microdermabrasion – at least 2 times a week. The laser cut crystals in this formulation will help exfoliate at a deeper layer than a typical daily skin scrub. This product is formulated with the same aluminum oxide crystals used by dermatologists for clinical application.
Skinlogics Facial Scrub – used alone or mixed with your daily cleanser to keep the skin fresh and glowing every day.
Skinlogics Thermal Facial Scrub - This unique product combines the warming action of the Warming Trend Green Tea mask with the scrubbing action of the Skinlogics Facial Scrub to give you a dual action, warming daily skin care polish.

For the Lips:

Lip Apeel is a MUST – use at least 2 to 3 times a week to keep your lips kissably soft and hydrated. ALWAyS have a lip balm on hand…or rather, on lips.

For Knees and Elbows:

BC Spa Pedicure Scrub – This heavy duty scrub will keep the skin on the knees and elbows smooth, soft and hydrated

Stay Hydrated
Nothing zaps moisture from the skin like the hot, summer temperatures. A daily moisturizer for both your face and body is necessary to not only add hydration to the skin, but to help the skin maintain hydration throughout the day. A good moisturizer is formulated with water rich hydration, skin protecting anti-oxidants, natural moisturizing factors that act as humectants to absorb water from the air and effective film-formers that lock in the skin’s natural moisture, preventing moisture loss.

For the Face:

Skinlogics Moisturizer – based on your skin type

Skinlogics Sensitive Hydra-calm Moisturizer – I love to keep this product on hand. It soothes summer skin sensitivites while laying down a cushion of pure hydration without feeling heavy. This is my summer moisturizer of choice.

Hydrating Mist – This is a MUST HAVE! I have them everywhere…on my desk, in my car, in my travel bag, outside on my patio to use in the pool. I don’t go outside in the summer without Hydrating Mist and a lip balm.

For the Body:

BC Spa Body Moisturizing Body Wash – This gentle wash cleanses the skin without stripping natural moisture like many foaming cleansers.

BC Spa Body Ultra Rich Body Moisturizer – This is probably our most effective deep hydration moisturizer that both enriches the skin with nutrients, but keeps the skin moist and glowing all day.

Protect Your Skin
When you think of summer, you think of sun. The sun is not necessarily our enemy in the summer and it certainly isn’t the only thing that you need to think about when considering skin protection products.

The sun is a key source of vitamins and nutrition for our overall health. Some sun is actually very good for us, as a key source of Vitamin D. When thinking about sun protection, keep your ABCs in mind:

•A = Away - Stay away from the sun in the middle of the day
•B = Block - Use SPF 15 or higher
•C = Cover up - Wear a T-shirt and a hat

These simple tips will help ensure that you protect your skin from both UVA and UVB sun damage, without completely depriving our bodies from essential nutrition that the sun can provide.

Cell Block C SPF 15 – will provide you with daily SPF protection, that will prevent both burning and skin aging, while providing you with a broad spectrum of antioxidants to protect from oxidative skin damage, encouraging healthy new cell development.

Cell Block C Multivitamin Capsules – this product is a year-round must have, but has special features that will help ensure healthy skin during the summer months. This products is made up of a super-high concentration of key antioxidants in a silicone base that will help control oil and shine during the day. A winning combination for Summer skincare needs.

Pamper your Feet Sandal season is upon us. To keep your feet looking great, be sure to use the 3-step BC Spa Pedicure treatments at least twice a week, and your BC Spa Pedicure Foot Cream each night before bed to keep your feet looking and feeling their best. Tip your toes in a fun, summery nail color and flaunt your summer perfect feet.

Give Yourself a Hand
You want to know a person’s true age? Just look at their hands! We use our hands more that most other parts of our body. Why not pamper them with the same level of dedication that we do our faces?

The 3-Step BC Spa Manicure products will keep your hands, cuticles and nails looking their best no matter how much abuse you expose them to.

There are, however, more things that you can do to de-age your hands. When applying your facial treatment products each morning and each night, do the same for your hands…Tight Firm and Fill, Cell Block C, Regeneration Overnight, etc. Apply a generous amount of each of these products, applying what you need for your face and using the rest to rub into your hands. Follow the exact same order that you apply your facial products and will notice the years start to fade away. For skin discolorations, be sure to use the Cell Block C Brightening Elixir at least twice a day to help fade the signs of age spots and sun damage.

The Art of Shaving

With this Summer’s leg baring fashion trends, a little more attention needs to be given to shaving your legs. A woman’s legs are not the same as a man’s face, so don’t opt for your husband’s shaving cream when it comes to taking care of your legs. Choose some less likely options for giving yourself a smooth, gorgeous shave:

Warming Trend Green Tea Mask – Apply a liberal amount to damp legs. The warming action will soften the hair follicle and give you smooth, flawless shave without the risk of razor burn or ingrown hairs.
Luxuries of the Sea Moisturizing Body Wrap – this product offers a great shave in the shower and will help the skin retain moisture and that sexy summer glow throughout the day.

Lighten Up

During the summer, there is one general rule that I always stick to…less is more! That rule applies to both your cosmetic and your skin care application:

Skin Care: Use what you need, but don’t over-do it. Use less of each product to keep your skin protected, but comfortable. Using too much of each product can cause you to perspire during the day, not only making you uncomfortable, but causing you to reduce the longevity of your skin care benefits.
Makeup: If you normally wear a heavier foundation during the cooler months, opt for a lighter foundation during the summer:
•Look for a liquid foundation, rather than a cream.
•Use the BC Color Tinted Moisturizer instead of your regular foundation for a light, natural coverage.
•If you normally sponge on your wet/dry foundation, try applying it with a brush rather than your sponge on top of your regular moisturizer. For more coverage, try pairing it with the BC Color Tinted Moisturizer.
•If you haven’t tried the BC Color Mineral Makeup, you should give it a go. This loose powder foundation offers beautiful coverage. Simply brush it on over your regular moisturizer or, again, team it up with the BC Color Tinted moisturizer if you need more coverage.

Go for a Faux Glow
Beauticontrol has a wide array of products that can offer you that sun kissed look without the damaging rays that a natural tan can bring:

Therma Del Sol Tuscan Sun Bronzer - this is my personal favorite bronzer in the line. This is the most natural looking bronzer I have ever used. It not only delivers a healthy, bronzed look to the skin, but it gives the skin a healthy glow.
Tri-Colored Bronzers – whether you want to give your skin a healthy glow with “Beauti and the Beach”, or a shimmering bronzed sun-kissed look, with “Bronzed Beauti”, these tri-colored bronzers are fan favorites!
Triple Glow – if you are looking for gradual self tanning benefits, Triple Glow for the face or Triple Glow for the body can give you a gradual, delicate build of natural looking color without looking fake or streaky. As with any self-tanner, remember to exfoliate the areas of application thoroughly and blend well to avoid streaking or un-even application.

Comfort the Weekend Warrior

There is a weekend warrior in all of us. The weekend gets here and we play too hard or spend just a tad more time in the sun that we expected. Here are some must-haves to keep on hand in the event that you over-do:

Luxuries of the Sea Instant Comfort Gel – this product is great to keep on hand for general muscle and joint aches and pains. This product takes no time at all to penetrate and give you quick, long lasting comfort.
BC Spa Detox Bath Soak – When your muscles are tired, sore and over-worked, grab a bottle of BC Spa Detox Bath Soak and head for the tub. 20 minutes in a warm bath will help open the pores, purge toxins and energize your body. This product is also good immediately after sun exposure to help alleviate the damaging effects of too much sun.
TFF Dermal Filling Moisture Mask – we all do it. We think we are going to be ok, then 2 hours after coming in the house realize the “OUCH!” of too much of a good thing. One miracle treatment that I love to keep around for over-exposure to the sun is the Regeneration Tight Firm and Fill Dermal Filling Moisture Mask. Apply a generous amount to the skin, and allow it to penetrate. Instead of rinsing, rub the product into the skin before bed. The skin rejuvenating benefits of the Hyaluronic Filling Spheres will work magic on your skin while you sleep, turning that terrible burn, into a beautiful bronzed tan.

Don’t Get Irritated
As much as we love to be outdoors during the Summer, we are constantly exposed to a variety of factors that can leave our skin irritated. Elevated temperatures, bug bites, contact allergies, dermatitis and exposure to those less than skin-friendly botanical varieties such as poison ivy, poison oak, evergreen trees, etc, can cause temporary, but uncomfortable itching, stinging and rash like symptoms. Here are a few must have products to keep on hand to relieve itching and discomfort, while expediting the healing process of skin irritations:

Skinlogics Sensitive Protective Services – face
Corticure Comfort Lotion – body

Go to Rehab Every Night
Night creams are NOT just for winter months or drier skin conditions. No matter what your age, or what time of year, a PM moisturizer is a necessary part of your skin care regimen. An effective PM treatment will help speed cellular recovery from environmental exposure and help build the skin’s immune response, returning your skin to its optimal condition, allowing it to better defend itself during your waking hours:

Cell Block C PM – This new formula renews your skin overnight. It contains our exclusive Tri-C Complex plus a unique multi-amino acid complex that helps provide a perfect environment that supports skin’s natural repairing mechanism. These repairing ingredients work synergistically with the peptides in the formula for an advanced age-fighting treatment. Protect, repair, renew… overnight.
Skinlogics Platinum Plus Replenishing Night Cream - So people aren't in their 20's anymore! They need a night cream specifically designed to help our skin recover from the stresses of the day, and aid in repairing and restructuring our lines and wrinkles. Use it as the last step in your nighttime skin care regimen, in place of Cell Block-C P.M. Cell Protection, for the added hydration that mature skin needs. This deep-penetrating, ultra-rich cream is hard at work while you’re hard at sleep…hydrating, protecting, renewing and restoring the look of 50+ skin overnight!

Summer can be your best friend with the right skin care!

Father's Day and Curtain Rods

I know I have been MIA for a while. We have been at the beach where we had great weather and swam in gorgeous water. I will post on that soon.

With Father's Day being tomorrow I just wanted to take a second to praise the wonderful men in my life.
My dad has been the greatest dad ever. He has always been there to support and encourage me in everything I do. I love you Daddy and am so thankful for what a wonderful father you are/have been to me and that Tuck has such a great, caring granddaddy.

My sweet husband is amazing. He works so hard and is the most unselfish human being I know. He is so good at making stuff with his hands like my curtain rods. I couldn't find any hooks that I liked so he made them for me.

I am so pleased with the way the turned out. He did a great job!! Now I just need to find some finials that I like to go on the end. I have been looking but have been unable to find exactly what I am looking for.

On the Father's Day note again, I am so thankful to have such a wonderful husband who is an amazing father.
I am also thankful for my Pop who is still here with me and my Granddaddy who is in Heaven. I miss you Granddaddy everyday and I am thankful for the time I have with Pop.
I am also blessed with a wonderful father in-law who I respect greatly. Sweet SirSir is also an amazing man and is a 3rd grandfather to me. I never met Chance's other Granddaddy but feel like I know him after all the stores I have heard about him. I wish I could have met that hard-working, honest man.

Happy Father's Day to all the fathers!!

Interesting E-mail

Before you read this I want you to please know my heart. I am all for helping people and giving people a chance but I do think America has been too lenient. If I were to go to another country I would need to learn that language instead of expecting them to change the language for me. It would be a choice I made to go to that country and I wouldn't expect them to change their language and laws just for me. So with that being said here is the e-mail.....

I guess they already finished their English homework!!!

Montebello High School in California

You will not see this heart-stopping photo on the front page of the NY Times, nor on the lead story of the major news networks.
The protestors at Montebello High School took the American flag off the school's flag pole and hung it upside down while putting up the Mexican flag over it. (*See pictures below*)

This stunt may be the nail in the coffin of any guest-worker/amnesty plan on the table in Washington.

The image of the American flag subsumed to another and turned upside down on American soil is already spreading on Internet forums and via e-mail.

If you choose to remain uninvolved, do not be amazed when you no longer have a nation to call your own nor anything you have worked for left, because it will have been 'redistributed' to the activists, while you choose the path of peace and stay out of the 'fray'.
Check history, it is full of nations/empires that disappeared when its citizens no longer held on to their core beliefs and values.
One person CAN make a difference.

One plus one plus one plus one plus one plus one........ ..

The battle for our secure borders and immigration laws that actually mean something, however, hasn't even begun.

E-mail Trouble

Last week a virus/spam e-mail was sent to all my contacts in my yahoo.com account. I was stressed out but sent everyone an e-mail and told them I didn't send the e-mail and to not click on the link. Well, last night it happened again. At first I was stressed because my morning wasn't going as I had planned. I decided to get a new e-mail and not let it ruin my day. This all happened by 7:30 this morning and left my old e-mail without any record of any sent e-mails. I was reading my Bible Study(that I was behind on) when my dear friend Ashley called to tell me the stupid spam had struck again. With Bible Study starting at 9:30 a.m. I thought, I'm just not going to make it to Bible Study because I will not have time to finish the lesson all because of my stupid e-mail. I decided I should just go to Bible Study even though I hadn't finished the daily lessons and not worry about my stupid e-mail.
I didn't know how I was going to get everything on my to do list accomplished with this e-mail set back. I am so glad I did go to Bible Study. The Lord blessed my time at Bible Study and blessed my day. I got so much finished today. The Lord really revealed to me today what is important in life. I was so mad at the person that created this virus but really I should thank them because I read e-mails today I needed to read. I answered and deleted lots of e-mails and purged lots of junk from my day. It was very stressful worrying about who all had gotten my e-mail again and hoping I didn't give them some virus or anything. It was also stressful having to get a new e-mail address today under those conditions but at the end of the day and in the big scheme of life it really wasn't anything. I can get so stressed and worked up about things but at the end of the day all that really matters is Jesus died for my sins and still loves me, my family is health, my family and friends still love me and God helped me turn what could have been a terrible day into a very productive day. When I go to sleep tonight I will feel like I have accomplished alot. What that wicked, evil person that created that spam or virus or whatever the heck it was intended for bad God helped me be appreciative and realize it could be worse.

Wedding Weekend

Last weekend out sweet friends Josh and Abbe got married!! C was a groomsman and T was the ring bearer. T did a very good job and I couldn't have been more proud. Sweet "Mr." Josh gave him a John Deere tractor to hold during the ceremony so I think that helped. Josh was so sweet to give it to T when T walked down the aisle so he would having something to entertain him during the ceremony. T did very good with the tractor and just held it and looked at it the whole time.

We are so excited for Josh and Abbe and can't wait to see what all the Lord has instore for them. Wishing them many years of happiness!!
