Friend of ours, Lance Abbott for District Attorney

I received this in an e-mail and wanted to pass along Lance's information. He is a great guy who would do a great job for Lee County. He has the sweetest wife and a precious child.

Lance Abbott announces that he will be a candidate
in the June 1, 2010,
Republican Primary for Lee County District Attorney

Lee County Attorney Lance Abbott announced that he will be a candidate for District Attorney of Lee County as a Republican to fill the seat of retiring District Attorney Nick Abbett. Prior to practicing as an attorney, Abbott served for over thirteen (13) years in law enforcement within the Lee County community as an Agent with the Alabama Bureau of Investigation (A.B.I.), a D.E.A. Task Force Agent, an Alabama State Trooper, as well as serving in the Alabama Attorney General’s Office under former Attorney General Bill Pryor, Jr.

“District Attorney Abbett is a man of exceptional integrity and has had an outstanding career as D.A. in our community. He has provided more than 44 years of loyal public service as a law enforcement officer and prosecutor in Lee County. As a former law enforcement officer and Agent with A.B.I., I’ve known and admired Mr. Abbett for many years. As District Attorney of Lee County, I will continue carrying on those high standards and valued traditions of serious prosecution of those who commit crimes, strenuously representing victims in our community, and ensuring justice to protect our children and the citizens of Lee County.” said Abbott.

“A prosecutor is only as strong as the law enforcement agencies that surround him. I have worked in conjunction with all of the agencies in Lee County, namely, the Auburn and Opelika Police Departments, the Lee County Sheriff’s Department, and the Alabama State Troopers. I am very proud of the agencies in our area and confident that they are foremost in regards to their knowledge, experience, professionalism, and dedication to duty within the State of Alabama.” said Abbott.

While assigned as an Agent with the Alabama Bureau of Investigation, Abbott was responsible for the enforcement of federal and state laws. Abbott was selected to serve as a Task Force Agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration and receivedtheD.E.A. Administrator’s Recognition Award in 2000. Abbott has been involved with numerous criminal and narcotics investigations to include: drug trafficking and distribution cases, clandestine methamphetamine lab investigations, Organized Crime Enforcement Drug Task Force investigations (O.C.D.E.T.F.), Racketeering Influenced Conspiracy Organization cases (R.I.C.O.), murder investigations, police shootings, and murder-for-hire cases.

Abbott has also received Service Appreciation Awards from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the U.S. Department of Treasury, the Auburn Police Department, the Alabama Department of Public Safety, and the Alabama Narcotics Officer’s Association.

Abbott has been practicing law for several years and is admitted to the Alabama State Bar and the United States District Court in the Middle District of Alabama. Abbott has tried cases in both the Circuit and District Courts of Lee County. Abbott is a member of the American Bar Association, the Lee County Bar Association, and the Auburn Chamber of Commerce. Abbott is an active attorney in the “Wills for Heroes” campaign, which provides estate planning and other testamentary documents for first responders such as fire fighters, police officers, and emergency medical personnel. Abbott is also a referral attorney for the Police Benevolent Association (P.B.A.), which provides legal representation to police officers involved in incidents while in the line of duty.

“I have been a part of the Lee County community since 1993. I feel that my vast amount of law enforcement experience, along with the knowledge I have acquired as a trial attorney has provided me the distinctive qualifications essential for the position of District Attorney of Lee County.” said Abbott.

Abbott is a member of Auburn United Methodist Church and is married to the former Jennifer Saville, an Architect with the firm Blondheim & Mixon, Inc., and they have one daughter.

Wreaths

If you know me very well you know that I'm not a crafty, art project, drawing minded person but if I see it somewhere or in a magazine I can give it a heck of a shot.

I have a wonderful sister-in-law that lives in Nashville who I love, love, love and over Thanksgiving she brought a Country Weekly Magazine to her parent's house. In her magazine I found this picture...

So my mind starting turning and thinking. Chance's grandmother, who lives in a nursing home, came to mind because she loves to have seasonal things on her door. She does not have a wreath or anything for Christmas so I thought this would be a good Christmas gift for her. So I headed to Hobby Lobby and purchased a wreath, pins and spray paint. My parents have several magnolia trees in their yard so my sweet dad cut some for me.

I will have to admit my mom and dad did help me with the first one because I didn't have any directions so they were so kind to help me so I wouldn't have as much trial and error.
Even though it isn't as full as the one in the magazine I was pretty pleased with the way it turned out.

Like every project, the first one I did took me a little while but this second one I made pretty quickly. I had this one for the birthday party we had last weekend.

So I'm not quite Martha Stewart but maybe one step closer.

Little Nephew

In November I became an aunt!! Chance's brother and his wife have a cute little boy named Forrest. Chance and I went to visit them at the hospital when he was born. Swine flu was rampant then and little children were advised not to go to the hospital unless they needed to see a doctor so we didn't take T-man with us.
Us with Forrest...

Cousins meeting for the first time...

I think they are going to be big buddies..

3rd Birthday

I know I have been mia lately but we have had lots going on and the Lord his greatly blessed my business which has been keeping me busy also. I have lots to blog about so hopefully I can catch-up on my blogs soon. Our sweet baby boy turned 3 last Sunday. I can't believe how fast time flies. This year our little man wanted two parties so last Saturday we had two parties. It was so fun!!

We started of with a barn party Saturday morning (with snow on the ground) at Chick-fil-a with his friends. (Note to other mom's out there... Chick-fil-a is a WONDERFUL place to have a little ones party.) He had a wonderful time but missed some friends who weren't able to come because of the snow.

The Barn cake with the pigs, sheep and chick-a-dees..

Blowing out the candles...

One of his best friends...

All the friends...

Then that afternoon, our family came to our house for the family party. For this party we had a Thomas theme and I didn't try to attempt to make two cakes so I let the bakery handle the Thomas Cake.

My sweet mother-in-law brought a delicious corn dip for us to enjoy and I made the rest. My parents came the day before and helped me clean before and after and of course my sweet hubby was lots of help too.

Us...

After the party when Mom and I were cleaning up, we look over to see this cute little sight...

He had a great 3rd Birthday!!!

O my gosh... Ali Landry!!!

"BeautiControl Welcomes me Back!
Hey Everybody!

Hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving! My life has been crazy with the Holidays fast approaching and it's been hard to manage, work, family, fun, and everything else! Not only is it the Holidays, but I'm getting ready for Belle Parish to hit stores in the New Year and it has been a lot of work and a lot of Fun. Don't forget to check out our website www.belleparish.com

Have you ever heard of BeautiControl? I hope so because it is a great company one that I have a long history with. Recently, I went to Nashville, TN to attend the BeautiControl forum where I got to speak to one thousand BeautiControl sales consultants. I was so excited and honored to speak b/c I sold BeautiControl products to put myself through college and not only did it provide a great way to make money, but I also love their products. I still use their powder to this day! I was introduced to tons of new products, skincare, etc. and I was so impressed. Even better, the sweet woman who signed me up as a consultant in college was still with the company and I got to see her at the conference...which is a testament to how well b/c must treat their consultants. That job gave me so much confidence because I was running my own business in college and for me, it gave me clarity that I could do anything. Please check out the BeautiControl website, www.beauticontrol.com ( or Blakely's website) . I hope that the women of BeutiControl enjoyed my talk and I also hope that I get to work with them in the Future!"

I thought this was too awesome not to share!!!

Here is a little info about the Junior League of Lee County...
The Junior League of Lee County is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable and one of our largest fundraisers is our annual Art Walk/Run for Children. This year the Art Walk/Run for Children 2010 will be held on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art. We are excited for the potential of this fundraiser to meet and exceed past fundraising efforts. The funds will benefit the community placements JLLC supports within our focus of supporting arts and literacy programs for Lee County’s children.

In the past, funds raised through League sponsored events have been able to provide the children of Lee County tools to increase their knowledge of and exposure to arts and literacy. Specifically, the League has worked with the Alabama Council on Human Relations to supply classic children’s literature, dramatic play props and clothes for low income preschool children. Funds were also given to the Lee County Literacy Coalition to purchase books and to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Lee County for trips to the museum and various galleries. We also purchased a starter set of Orff Schulwerk instruments for Richland Elementary School’s music classes, and risers for Wacoochee Junior High School to use in classrooms and for concerts. This year the League is currently providing support to the Child Advocacy Center of East Alabama, LynnTerra Ballet, Lee County Literacy Coalition, Dean Road Elementary, City of Auburn Parks & Recreation and the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art. The League has numerous “Done in a Day” (DIAD) projects with various charitable organizations within our community to provide supplies, volunteers, and monetary donations.

Through our fundraising and volunteer efforts, the Junior League of Lee County has made an impact in Lee County by contributing the following:

• Volunteering 1,545 service hours in the community

• Distributing $16,300 in funds to six community agencies

• Assisting 20 Community Agencies by providing volunteers, monetary donations, and needed program supplies and materials

• Most importantly impacting 3,400 children in Lee County through our art and literacy placements and “Done in a Day” programs.
